Hawaiian Tropic Silk Hydration Lotion Sunscreen

What it Claims:
With its ultra-luxurious hydrating silk ribbons, Hawaiian Tropic Silk Hydration™ lotion sunscreen nourishes and pampers skin while providing broad spectrum UVA and UVB protection, and 12-hour moisturization when out in the sun.

My Skin:
For my body I have normal/dry skin and it is very sensitive.

My Thoughts:
I received a 2oz sample of this lotion in SPF 30 for the 2012 Summer Beauty VoxBox for review purposes, and I must say that I love how this is a lotion-sunscreen because in one step I am moisturized and ready for a hot summer day. This lotion-sunscreen has truly been a life saver. It is thick enough to moisturize my dry skin but not too thick where it feels like it will melt of my body under the summer heat and it smells great. It also does not leave a white cast on your skin if you take the extra time and effort to blend it into your skin. Also while using this product I have not once broken out which is amazing because I have to be very careful with what I put on my skin.

Rate:
Because of the lovely smell, convenience of it being a lotion-sunscreen, high SPF, and the fact that it did not aggravate my sensitive skin I give this product 4 stars. I definitely recommend it and next time when I am in Target I will make sure to pick one up.

Where To Buy:
You can find Hawaiian Tropic products at most major retailers. Suggested retail price: $8.99 for a 6oz bottle. Also available in SPF 12, 30, 50!

NARS Foreplay Cheek Palette: First Impression + Swatches

What it Claims:
A chic cheek palette featuring four dazzling shades based on the bestselling Orgasm blush. The gorgeous afterglow of classic orgasm is reinvented in this quad that combines Orgasm blush plus vivid shades of pink and peach and a shimmering gold to create your own signature glow. (description from sephora.com)

My Skin:
Skin Type: Normal/Combination
Skin Tone: MAC NW 45/NARS Sheer Glow Trinidad/MUFE HD #178

My Thoughts:
Just got my order in from Sephora of the NARS Cheek Palette in Foreplay. I must say I love this palette. I missed out on the NARS Danmari Palette and ever since, I have been working on growing my NARS Blush collection. This cheek palette is a great addition. This palette is great for traveling. I will add that I do have a love/hate relationship with orgasm. I love the color and it swatches beautifully but I hate the way it applies and (doesn't) show up on my dark complexion. However, I will make it work. I also love the fact that this palette is a deconstruction of the ever so classic cult favorite orgasm. With this palette I can create my own version of orgasm. I love the concept and I am actually thinking of getting another one as a back up. One might ask are there any dupes? I will tell you that desire is very similar to the "pink matte blush", but pink matte blush is a tad more pigmented and less chalky on my deep skin tone. "Peach matte blush it slightly deeper than torrid and the "gold highlight" color is more golden than albatross.

This palette will cost you $49.00 for 0.36oz of product. This makes it worth approximately $67

The palette includes:
  • Peach Matte Blush
  • Gold Highlighting Blush
  • Pink Matte Blush
  • Orgasm (peachy pink with golden shimmer)

I am not sure if this is just a sephora online exclusive, but make sure to call your local sephora store and ask if they have or are getting it in stock. I also have not seen it on NARScosmetcis.com

If you are familiar with NARS blushes then you will come to find out that this cheek palette is no different in pigmentation, lasting power, formula, and application. This cheek palette is perfect for those who do not own orgasm or similar colors. Even if you have similar colors this palette is great for traveling you get three blushes and a highlight. I give it 5 stars.

Tokidoki Airways Palette: First Impressions

Currently on sale at sephora.com for $19.00, this set comes with a collectible tin suitcase adorned with passport prints, a large donutella key chain, and eight full sized, paraben-free eye-shadows in the colors: Paris (sparkling soft pink), Los Angeles (sparkling lavender), Tokyo (iridescent purple), Hong Kong (pearlized lime green), New York (pearlized olive green), Rome (matte chocolate brown), London (pearlized toffee), and Hawaii (matte vanilla). As you can see from the swatches below some of the colors are not as pigmented  (Paris and Hawaii, especially). My favorite colors out of this palette with great pigmentation are New York, Tokyo, and Rome. Hong Kong and London are also nice.

My Thoughts:
This is not a must have palette, but for a Tokidoki collector like myself I had to have it and for the price it is a great deal.

Helpful Tips:
To make sure the eye-shadows stand out more I suggest using a white base like the NYX jumbo pencil in milk, or MAC paint-pots.

Review: NARS Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer SPF 30 / PA+++

What it claims:
NARS' Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer has an SPF of 30 and claims to be a lightweight tinted moisturizer that evens skin-tone while providing a translucent veil of protection. It claims to do all of this in as little as four weeks. This tinted moisturizer is also oil-free and sells on sephora(online/stores) and NARS(counters/online) for $42.00. It comes in ten shades, that range from light to dark with a combination of yellow, neutral, and red undertones.

My Skin:
Skin type: normal/combination
Skin tone: MAC NW 45/NARS Sheer Glow Trinidad/Makeup Forever HD #178
I have discolorations due to acne scarring and sensitive skin so most items break me out.

My Thoughts:
I love the feel of this tinted moisturizer, it is very lightweight and has a liquidy consistency. Its consistency makes it very easy to layer without feeling heavy or looking cakey. My color is Polynesia (dark with warm chocolate undertones). However, this tinted moisturizer is one that I have to work with. When I first apply it, it looks and feels beautiful giving my skin a dewy and glowy finish but, by the end of my day which is usually a school day from 8:00 a.m to 3:00 p.m it looks greasy. This surprises me because it is an oil-free tinted moisturizer. It also has a slight fragrance that does not bother me and it wears off after it is applied to the skin. Other than that I love this tinted moisturizer, I love that it does not contain any parabens, sulfates, synthetic fragrances, synthetic dyes, petrochemicals, phthalates, GMOs, or triclosan, so it is good for your skin. I also, like that it does even out my skin-tone.This tinted moisturizer comes with 50ml or 1.9oz. It is on the pricey side, but if you do not mind paying $42 for a tinted moisturizer then by all means be my guest. The only tinted moisturizer that I have ever tried prior to the NARS is the MAC Studio Moisture Tint which I also love.

Rate:
The NARS Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer is nice but the greasy look is not my style (a good way to combat that is by adding a mattifying primer before application and/or a mattifying powder to set this). The price is very steep and the liquid consistency makes it easy for you to run out. I do not see this lasting very long. All in all I do like it. I love the initial look it gives me and I love the consistency. I also love that it is not harmful to my skin and has a nice SPF coverage.
I give this product...
3.5/5 Stars:
